Yameika Head, M.D., FAAP

Born and raised with a passion for helping children and families, Dr. Yameika Head is a board-certified pediatrician and respected leader in pediatric medicine. For more than 25 years, she has dedicated her career to caring for children with compassion, empathy, and a deep commitment to helping every child thrive.

Dr. Head’s clinical interests include early childhood and adolescent health, obesity care, parenting support, trauma-informed care, and inclusivity. Her personal experiences as a parent have also shaped her approach to medicine, giving her a unique understanding of the challenges families may face and the importance of building strong, supportive communities around children.

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Head is passionate about mentoring the next generation of physicians. She served for 10 years as Program Director of the Pediatric Residency Program for Atrium Health Navicent/Mercer University School of Medicine and became the institution’s first African American Residency Program Director.

Dr. Head is widely recognized for her dedication to patient care, medical education, and advocacy. She has received numerous honors throughout her career and has been named among Georgia Trend’s Top Doctors multiple times. Patients and colleagues alike appreciate her warmth, authenticity, and ability to connect deeply with families.
